If you’re looking for easy jewelry hacks that don’t cost anything, these are three tricks I use as a jewelry designer. From cleaning tarnished jewelry to preventing tangled necklaces and giving old hoops a fresh look, these tips use items you probably already have at home.
Use Dawn soap to remove tarnish

Most of us already have this in our kitchens. Take a little bit of soap, scrub your tarnished item with an old toothbrush, rinse and dry thoroughly with a cloth. While it won't produce the same shine as removing tarnish with a polishing cloth, it's an easy and cheap hack if you are in a pinch or want to save some money.
Prevent tangled necklaces with ziplock bags

One of the easiest ways to keep necklaces from tangling is by using a small zip-top bag. I always do this for traveling or when organizing jewelry for events, markets and pop ups. Place the necklace in the bag and seal the clasp outside of the bag. This keeps the chain separated and helps prevent knots while you’re on the go.
